BRUNSWICK, Maine - A 54-year-old Brunswick woman who apparently jumped from the Frank J. Wood Bridge into the Androscoggin River just after noon Wednesday was rescued, conscious, by Brunswick firefighters. Deputy Fire Chief Donald Koslosky said that when he arrived shortly afterward, bystanders showed him the blue down jacket the woman was wearing floating in the river near the Sea Dog Brewing restaurant.

A student has been charged with malicious destruction of property in connection with graffiti and swastikas in a Goucher College dorm, Baltimore County Police said on Friday. Fynn Ajani Arthur, 21, of Brunswick, Maine, a student and resident at Goucher College, was arrested and charged with two counts of malicious destruction of property after racist graffiti was discovered in two locations on campus.

Community college opens welding lab to train BIW employees

Southern Maine Community College has opened a state-of-the-art welding lab at its Brunswick campus in order to train prospective employees to work at Bath Iron Works. Through a grant from the Maine Quality Centers, part of the Maine Community College System, SMCC purchased 10 new welding stations, now located in a building leased by BIW several blocks from the college's Midcoast Campus at Brunswick Landing.
