Police release photos of Bridgeport bank robbery suspect

Police have released a photo of a man who held up the People's United Bank in Stop & Shop at 4531 Main St. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018. Investigators believe this is the same person responsible for an armed robbery that took place on Saturday in Waterbury at a Peoples United Bank branch at 240 Chase Avenue inside a Stop and Shop.

Waterbury museum invites entries for MIXMASTER show

The deadline is approching for artists to submit their work for the Mattatuck Museum's annual juried members exhibition MIXMASTER. Entries are due by Dec. 16, and selected artists will be notified by Jan. 2. The show, MIXMASTER, is scheduled for Jan. 20-Feb. 23, 2019, with an opening reception from 1-3 p.m. on Jan. 20. According to a release from the museum, "MIXMASTER is an exhibition that seeks to discover and recognize the talents of artists working in New England and the Tri-State region.

Police identify suspect shot and killed during Prospect armed robbery, assault

According to officials, on Friday around 6:50 p.m., officials received reports of an armed robbery and assault at Route 69 Auto Sales and Service at 69 Waterbury Road. Officers then located one of the assailants, 44-year-old Torrance Battle of Waterbury , suffering from gunshot wounds near the business.

A 79-year-old Connecticut man is going to spend some time behind bars for attempting to solicit sexual activity from teenage girls on Facebook. Waterbury resident Harry Bright - also known as "Buddy Bright" has been sentenced to three months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release after pleading guilty in federal court to one count of distribution of obscene matter to a minor.

Police reported on Nov. 14 at approximately 12:45 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on Spring Street in which it was determined that Kimmer, who was operating the vehicle, was impaired. Kimmer was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Nov. 29. Selena Medina, 22, of 32 Young St., Waterbury, was charged Nov. 14 with two counts of second-degree failure to appear.

An unidentified juvenile was charged Monday with second-degree manslaughter in the accidental shooting death of Guilford teen Ethan Song, days after investigators announced they concluded that Song fired the fatal shot himself, police said. Song, 15, accidentally shot and killed himself last January with a .357 Magnum that had been stored in the bedroom closet at a friend's home, investigators had concluded.

Charges were upgraded to murder after police said that the victim, identified as 76-year-old Patricia Way, died the next day at St. Mary's Hospital.

A 76 year-old woman was taken to the hospital after police say she was violently strangled by another senior citizen at a Waterbury nursing facility on Saturday. Waterbury police said they responded to Autumn Lake Healthcare at Bucks Hill around 6 p.m., and that the victim and her suspected attacker, 81 year-old John Jensen, knew each other and were both residents of the facility, but it was not yet clear what their relationship was.
