Vermont Statehouse Christmas tree harvested at Hartland home

The Vermont state Christmas tree that will be lit Friday on the Statehouse lawn in Montpelier was cut down Wednesday in Hartland. The balsam has stood tall at Larry and Pat Fortier's home for almost 30 years.

A former Montpelier man serving time in federal prison has been named as a suspect in the murder of notorious mobster James "Whitey" Bulger. The New York Times reports Sean McKinnon was one of four suspects identified by prison officials at the Hazelton penitentiary in West Virginia where Bulger was killed last month.
