Long Meeting: Final PAC plan approved 12-2

Tuesday, Board of Aldermen members voted 12-2 to approve the final revised plan to issue up to $15.5 million worth of bonds to pay for the downtown performing arts center in the former Alec's Shoes building at 201 Main St. As of The Telegraph's print deadline for today's edition, members had been meeting for nearly four hours. At least 16 members of the public spoke Tuesday in the packed Aldermanic Chamber.

Nashua's fire marshal's office is still investigating the cause of this apartment building fire at 16 White Ave. The blaze did significant damage to the second-floor apartment but there were no injuries.

Musicians perform to inspire students

A group of Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra musicians stopped by the Amherst Street Elementary School last month to inspire the youth through music. Sinfonietta Strings of Greater Nashua hosted these Harvard College musicians who came to perform their 21st Century After School program Nov. 9 for kids who attentively listened inside the gymnasium, Nov. 9. Some of the musicians play in Sinfonietta while others do not.

Shaheen: N.H. Obamacare enrollment down

Monday, U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., said Granite State enrollment in Affordable Care Act health insurance plans is down by more than 4,000 compared to this time last year - while the nation as a whole is behind by more than 500,000. Shaheen joined Mayor Jim Donchess and several medical professionals at Lamprey Health Care to discuss the marketplace open enrollment deadline for health care plans under the ACA, which is more commonly known as Obamacare.

Traffic stop leads to arrest

What began as an attempt by a Nashua police officer to pull over a car he allegedly saw speed past him on the Daniel Webster Highway Friday night would end up with the driver under arrest on a series of charges going back to July. The driver, Peter Hartwell, 42, most recently of 66 W. Hollis St., was arraigned Monday in Nashua district court on a total of eight charges - five stemming from the motor vehicle stop, two from a Nov. 8 incident and one from a July 26 episode, according to court documents.
