Keith Mongold, 30, of Hawthorne Avenue in Derby, Conn., was found to be in violation of a Connecticut statue A- breach of peace based on bigotry and bias, police said. Court records indicated he was charged with second-degree intimidation due to bias.

That's according to Mayor David Cassetti, who, along with Public Works Superintendent Mike D'Alessio and staff from J. Iapaluccio Construction Inc., did a walk-through Monday of the "substantial completion" of the nearly mile-long road that spans from Derby to Seymour. Cassetti said the contractor will finish up a final "punch list" of items to complete and then return in spring to do reseeding.

2 arrested in downtown Shelton beating

Coma Fogle, 37, of Waterbury, was arrested on Nov. 28, 2018 in connection with an assault on Center Street in downtown Shelton in October. Whitehurst was charged with first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.

Passerby pulled victim out of car after rollover on Route 8

Around 1:30 a.m., Shelton fire companies one and three were sent to Route 8 north between Exits 13 and 14 a reported rollover crash with extrication. The first fire unit at the scene found one victim outside the vehicle.

Smoke billowed over the area of Roosevelt Drive on Friday morning as fire crews worked to put out a heavy truck fire. The call came in around 10 a.m. and fire crews rushed to the area to find a truck on fire in the parking lot of Mattei's Deli and Catering.

A claim that a Derby police detective made a racist comment during a July encounter with a group of teens was found to be substantiated in part, according to a copy of the an internal affairs investigation obtained by Hearst Connecticut Media. This was one of several claims in a complaint filed by Jessica Matthews against four Derby police officers.
